Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.” Matthew 9:37-38
God wants to use you! You might be thinking, let the Pastors or the Deacons do this preaching and teaching stuff. That’s the job of those in leadership positions. I’m just an ordinary person. But to your friends and neighbors whom you know, know that you are a believer. It is up to you to reach them. Those are the people God has called you to reach right now. God wants you to be part of what He is doing.
Jesus said, “Pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest” (Matthew 9:38). Notice that Jesus did not say pray that we would have more observers or more spectators, or more complainers.
Pray, “Lord, let it start with me. I will be a laborer. I don’t know what I can do. I don’t know what I can offer. I feel a little bit like that kid in the Bible who just had the loaves and the fishes. I don’t have a lot, Lord. But I give it to you.” Then watch what God can do! God can perform spectacular miracles with what little you have. What did He do with a small boy’s lunch? God multiplied it and touched thousands (see John 6:9–14). God can take what little you have and multiply it. He can give you gifts and abilities that you never had before if you would just say, “Lord, it’s not much, but it’s yours. I give it to you.”
