- Purpose of our Basketball Leagues
- To be an "in-reach" and "out-reach" ministry for our brothers/sisters and unsaved friends.
- To enjoy the "fellowship" of one another. We want our brothers/sisters to exercise and have fun. At the same time, be supported, encouraged, and be built up by one another thru prayer and mutual edification. Winning should NOT be our #1 priority. We want everyone to sense that God is in our midst.
- Praying for one another - your captain and/or co-captain(s) will be praying for you along with the captain(s) of the other teams. You are welcome to join them for prayer 10-15 minutes before each game. We believe that God will work mightily in our midst when we pray, for "the prayer of the righteous man accomplishes much".
- Leagues are opened to all FCBC members and their guests. During the regular school year, we ask those in high school and below to refrain from participating in any weeknight leagues.
- Rules & Regulations
- Referee Fees - $20 per team per game
- Forfeit Fees - If a team forfeits a game (meaning there's a no show or not having enough players), then the forfeiting team is responsible for to pay for both teams' ref fees ($40) for that game.
- Jerseys – each team must have the same (or similar)-colored jerseys with different numbers for all its members, or technical(s) will be given. "Similar" is defined as, for example, light red with dark red, gold with yellow, or dark navy blue with black, but NOT white with red, or yellow with red, or light blue with black.
- SCOREKEEPING - each team is responsible for scorekeeping its assigned games during the league. Please check the current schedule for your team's assignments.
- WAVIER FORM - each person playing in our leagues must have a signed wavier form for the current year in our files.
- League fees - $0
- Love offering - optional. Your team may choose to give a love offering to help cover the AC, lighting, and maintenance cost of the MPB. Only born-again Christians may give in your team offering.
GAME RULES
- 20 minutes/halves: 1st OT-2 min; 2nd OT-sudden death
- Stop-time and the 30 seconds shot clock will only be used in the last two minutes of the game, and only if the game is 9 points or under.
- There is a 10-minute grace period for each team from the scheduled game time. If after the grace period, a team does not have at least 4 players on the court, then the team forfeits the game. The game may start with 4 players on a team. But by the start of the 2nd half, if its 5th player have not arrived, then that team forfeits the game and must paid the Forfeit Fee (see rule #2).
- Only players from your team roster may play for your team once the league starts. If your team needs to add player(s) for any reasons, you must get the approval from the league coordinator. The only exception is when your team is short of players during a game and a forfeit is eminent. Then you may add a player with a person who is already inside the MPB to your team for that game, but only with the approval from the opposing team.
- No one may play in two leagues simultaneously unless you get clearance from the Recreation Director (and it has to be a good reason). One cannot be on 2 or more team rosters in the same league.
- If a player disagrees with the calls from the referees, he must bring his concerns to his captain, and not directly to the referees. The captains, in turn, will bring the matter to referees' attention. Only team captains are allowed to dispute (with respect) calls and/or non-calls with the referees.
- Our referees will give technical(s) to those using foul language and/or displaying un-sportsmen like behavior; which includes taunting, trash talking, excessive complaining to the referees, yelling at the scorekeepers, & etc. Because this is God's house, everyone needs to revere and respect it.
- Consequences for Technical Violations (other than for jersey, substitution, or breakaway violations): During a league, if a player receives technical violation(s)either from the referees or the league commissionerit will stay on the player's record for the duration of the league. The 1st technical will serve as a warning to the player. The 2nd technical will carry an automatic 1 game suspension. The 3rd any subsequent technical will be an automatic 5 games suspension each. Suspensions will be carried-over to the next league(s). The player's slate will be wiped clean at the start of his/her next league. But if technical violations persist and/or a pattern emerges for a particular player over the course of several leagues, then the player will be suspended indefinitely until his/her negative behavior is corrected. Anyone fighting will be suspended for a minimum of 20 games.
- An appeal may be requested to remove a technical given by the referee from a player's record if it can be proven that the technical call was truly unnecessary, undeserving, or made in error. The player cannot appeal on his own behalf. An appeal must be made by his team captain (or co-captain if the subject is pertaining to the captain himself) on the player's behalf, and must be consented by the opposing team captain and by an impartial eyewitness (a person who was not playing in the game). Please use the online form to submit the appeal, and it must be received in 5 days from the time the technical was given. Technical(s) given by the league commissioner and fighting suspension(s) cannot be appealed.
CLEAN UP
- Please help keep the MPB clean. If you see trash, empty bottles or cans, please dispose of it appropriately.
- If your team is assigned to "Chores" duty, please dry mop the MPB and wet mop the dirty areas.
